도암갤러리에서 2024.10.24.(목)부터 11.30.(토)까지 독일 출신 작가 베른트 할프헤르, 랄프 베르거의 2인전을 개최합니다. 두 작가는 독일 뒤셀도르프 미술 아카데미에서 함께 조각을 공부했으며 클라우스 린케의 지도를 받았습니다. 이후 베른트 할프헤르는 한국에 정착하여 작업과 후학 양성에 힘써왔고, 랄프 베르거는 독일에서 작업을 이어왔습니다. 이번 전시는 같은 시작점에서 출발했지만 각기 다른 문화와 환경 속에서 지난 30여 년간 조형적 관점을 실험해온 두 작가의 작업을 한 자리에서 만나볼 수 있는 기회입니다.
여러분이 바라보는 세상은 어떤 모습인가요? 두 작가는 무엇보다 조각가의 시선으로 세계를 들여다보고 표현합니다. 사진, 조각, 영상, 퍼포먼스 등 매체를 가리지 않으며, 조형적 관점을 견지하는 점이 두 작가의 작업에 공존합니다. 이들 작품 속 세계는 때로 버블의 저편을 엿보듯 왜곡되어 보이거나, 위 아래가 뒤바뀌기도, 원래의 형태를 잃기도 합니다. 그리고 기존의 규범으로 설명하기 어려운 상황을 보여주기도 합니다. 우리가 어떤 시각으로 바라보고 해석하는가에 따라, 이미 정해져 있는 것처럼 보이는 세계도 달리 마주할 수 있습니다. 두 작가의 버블과 여러분의 버블이 만나 각양각색의 버블 세계가 펼쳐질 이번 전시에 여러분을 초대합니다.
Doam Gallery is pleased to announce a two-person exhibition featuring German artists Bernd Halbherr and Ralf Berger, running from October 24 to November 30, 2024. Both artists studied sculpture at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, where they learned under Professor Klaus Rinke. Following their studies, Bernd Halbherr has been living and working in Korea, educating the next generations of artists, while Ralf Berger has continued his artistic practice in Germany. This exhibition presents the works of these two artists, each of whom has developed their own artistic vision over the past 30 years within their individual realms.
What perspective do you take on the world? Above all, the two artists explore and express the world through the lens of sculptors. Their works coexist with a sculptural perspective, regardless of the medium, including photography, sculpture, video, and performance. The worlds within these works sometimes appear distorted, as if peering into the other side of the bubble, featuring upside-down perspectives or a loss of original form. They also present situations that are difficult to explain within existing norms. Depending on the perspective from which we observe and interpret them, a world that seems predetermined can be encountered in a different light. We invite you to this exhibition where the bubbles of the two artists meet your own, unfolding a world of diverse bubbles.
